Message perfect NA would result in better car than restoring a worn TT. No matter how you cut it, a nice paint job, one that you can love when you wax it; one where you do not find dull areas, overspray, underspray, chips, cracks and early fade, will cost lots of money. 20K on average (this includes rubber, glass trim, etc.).

I see lots of hotrod and muscle car guys restore 30's and 60's cars. Shell (or unibody) restorations, all with less-than-desireable reproduction parts, cost in the vicinity of $25,000. A full interior, $15,000, driveline 30 to 60 depending on what they put in. This puts the average custom of this type near $100,000.

I guess it all depends on budget and what you want. The cars I described above are lousy drivers. They are big, attact lots of attention and swallow gobs of fuel. Granted most drive only to shows, but non-the-less.
